In order to verify an address Exim runs it through the routers to
find out the destination of the address: if there's a destination
the address is valid, and if there isn't it is not valid. A side
effect of this is that we find out if it ends up at Hermes which
user it belongs to, and if they have enabled forgery protection.

The distinction between signed addresses and unsigned addresses is
the same as the distinction between "bounce addresses" and
"recipient addresses" i.e. addresses that you can send normal email
to. In traditional usage all addresses are recipient addresses.
