Email must enter or leave the University via a known email system;
other machines are prevented from talking SMTP with the outside
world by the port 25 block.

Engineering and Jesus are used to illustrate that when things are
running normally there's no difference between having ppsw as a
backup receiver or not.

Users get their email from Hermes by protocols other than SMTP
(dotted lines). They send outgoing email to smtp.hermes.cam.ac.uk
which is just an alias for ppsw. Similar for CUS.

From ppsw's point of view, there's little difference between
non-hubbed servers and other systems on the Internet, except that
ppsw won't send email to arbitray machines in Cambridge.
